Head and Neck Multidisciplinary Team
Head and Neck Multidisciplinary Team
The head and neck multidisciplinary team serves as a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach for assessing, planning, monitoring, coordinating and evaluating the delivery of cancer care services. The team meets quarterly and is comprised of multidisciplinary physicians and allied healthcare professionals, including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, internists, a nutritionist and a patient navigator.
The head and neck multidisciplinary team strives:
- To standardize consistent educational materials, pathology reports and work-up processes and procedures
- To create screening guidelines
- To develop treatment plans through tumor boards to be utilized as guidelines in the treatment and care management of head and neck cancer.
Initiatives developed by the head and neck multidisciplinary team have included a head and neck screening program and multidisciplinary treatment guidelines for cancers of the head and neck based on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines.
